The Fading

Unsmiled smile
Waiting to be remembered
Waiting to be had

To mortalize the fantasy
To mortalize a phantom
Put a face behind the mask

Save the dying heart
Revive the graceful soul
Revive the shining light

For time almost ends
For tears almost dry
The blackness arrives

That is so dark, but I have been there.

On a lighter note, JJ (my son, age 4 – very soon to be 5) had a fight with his sister on Sunday.

He went to his room, gathered some clothes together, rolled up a small mat, then bundled it all with some cord With a weighty sadness he came to me and said, "Bye daddy. I'm leaving."

"Where are you going?"

“Very far away, to another country."

"I Love you and will miss you."

“I love you and will miss you too."

We hugged and went to tell Sofia he was leaving, then he headed out the door. I must confess that I could hardly keep from laughing because his sadness was so solemn, no anger, no bitterness, just sadness.

He got a few steps outside the door before he turned around and came back into our arms and burst into tears.

Richard, I am amused by how you said it: dark. I was sad when I wrote it but I guess it was more of dark than sad.
Thanks for sharing JJ's cuteness, that really made me smile and brightened my day. You are so lucky to have adorable kids!

but often times, we need to see the night before we can see the stars. :)
appreciation sets in , during the deepest and darkest moments in life....
